Medical Examination

“YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN DREAM WITHOUT GIVEN POWER TO ACHIEVE IT”

This I believe now after wining Godrej loud. Before Loud I had the dream deep inside my mind but now I am making it come true.

Life after Godrej loud is so fantastic , got a great welcome from entire NITIE family.

 

I really didnt have any idea about their plan . Thanks friends :)

After Loud life was going very soothing until my medical examination dates has come near.

This is my story so far from some pages of my diary.

19/09/12         

Tomorrow I am going to get my 2^nd class medicals to be done.  Fingers are crossed, may there be no hurdles this time.

I have gathered information about the various doctors short listed and marked 3 doctors nearest to Powai and talked to them on phone. Dr. C R Verma(Actual Name changed) is highly qualified but was rude on phone so I decided to go  other 2 doctors and see what can be done.

DAY  1

I left NITIE at 9.15 and took auto for Andheri. Searched for two doctors. One doctor’s address was not correct and other was asking Rs 9000 for entire medicals. So, finally after exhausting myself for about 2.30 hrs decided to go to Nanawati hospital and get medicals done from Dr. C R Verma..

I met him and he explained all the terms and conditions of his service. He charged Rs3000 as his fees and other tests. He instructed one of the nurses to get all the tests done sequentially and without delay.

1^st blood test was done and then ECG. My hard luck and experience has been so bad that every time  medical checkup happens, the anxiety makes my heart beat goes high. But the doctor at ECG was very supportive which helped me relax and lowered down my heart beat.

My Eye check up again made me blind for one day :) with dialation drop, but eventually my reports got clearance.

Got excellent remarks in Audiography from doctor about my hearing senses coz I heard all the sounds of every frequency sent by her on her high tech medical instrument. After X-Ray and sonography waited for 4 hrs to collect reports and went to doctor’s clinic in the evening.

I reached clinic but Verma sir was pissed off due to some personal issues .The moment I entered his cabin I could feel the heat inside as his face was red hot . I showed my reports; he quickly scrutinized my reports and said that there are problem in my reports. My whole body got numbed once again as all those bitter memories of medical board flashed back in few seconds.

Fear of  loosing again arrested my mind. I had no option than being polite & asking for some leniency in medicals. I told him I got this thing 2 years back also & from then its same and no changes are appearing in X-Ray, told him about my C T scan reports also but he started telling me DGCA norms, criteria, his value and knowledge.

I got a bit more sentimental and told him  my story and about Godrej Loud , I am sure I was not very clear about my explanation and reasons & also he didn’t understood Godrej loud completely but I am sure he realized the value of this thing for me , and he was quite for few seconds.

Then he said “Beta I am not saying I ll give you unfit, but I want to do detail examination as being a pilot you have responsibilities of many other lives too”

            This detail examination, more complicated & focused tests always gives me tension and anxiety coz by the time your reports are not out it makes you keep hanging like a pendulum.  He completed his remaining minute Height weight examination & given me a prescription slip of few retests and C.T Scan.

Everything was ok but “CT”, I knew it was a 4000 bucks test and also it ll give result in my favor but memory of 2 consecutive CT with 1 MRI 2 years back started floating in my mind, results of heavy radiation which made me sick for 1 full month didn’t allow me accept to go for this test, also I knew nobody in my family gonna allow me go for this again. I requested him but he forced me to get it done.

            I left his clinic with upset mind, stressed body & un-satisfactied heart, while coming back to college got call from my friends, and came to know that whole batch was going for Ganpati visarjan. Mentally and physically stressed body told me not to go anywhere but at this moment I really wanted some support and hope, and who can be better guide & support than GOD so I decided to join Ganpati Visarjan. Some friends read my mind and asked for matter but couldn’t explain them and straightway went to hostel and slept.

DAY 2

Naveen Yadav , my roommate infact best roommate one can ever have , supportive & DON of ETAH . His Facebook album is full of pics holding different Guns and Gypsi rides, but  very emotional from inside . He read my face last night & the next morning when I wake up his words were “ Bhai ajj class jane ka man nahi kar raha hai , tu bata kahi bahar ja raha hai to sath chalta hun” I knew he said to accompany me as I was tensed . I nodded & we both went for Retests and X-Rays.

In evening I had to go to Dr C R Verma again & this time Ashish Tomar came into light. 

Tomar , Jaat bhai , yaro ka yaar . He is one with whom I sometimes feel very irritated but many  times he is the best and most darling friend , he always try hard to make environment light with his so called love stories and stories of his haryanavi friends who took out guns on every matter . But, he is the man of words.

This time he accompanied me to clinic & after traveling for an hour  in Auto I didn’t realize I had tension , We understood all the concepts , problems & Tricks of Autorickshaw drivers :). This is Tomar bhai.

            So we reached Dr Verma’s clinic & we were before time this time , time was not passing with increasing anxiety , every time –ve thing came in my head I shook my  head hard & tried to deviate my mind from these thoughts. After some time Dr. C R Verma came, he was in better mood today, smiled at entrance & said “Aur Rupesh beta kaisa hai” I smiled in return but was trying to figure out level of genuine expression.

After sometime he called me inside & asked for my reports , this time he was happy watching reports , “ I told you your reports gonna be fine , so where is your CT report” he asked. , I was silent & then replied sir I didn’t do, his mood started changing.

  But immediately I showed my previous CT reports and investigation sheet of CMO (Chief Medical Officer) delhi & certificate of fitness.

            Watching this he calmed down for a moment & started talking in a lower pitch bcoz he was short of reasons and explanations.

   After few minutes I don’t know what happened to him & he said its  only 99% sure from my side with this.

  Now what 99% means to me?? for me its either IN or OUT.

So Ashish Tomar now took the charge and asked “So sir what do we have to do to make it 100%”

He said “do current CT”, “but I have told you about my concern” I replied.

Conversation was getting intense so Doctor sent me outside to bring some printout of my academic records.

When I came back after 20 mins what I saw was a very different and surprising atmosphere , don’t know what Tomar has talked with him but he made a really good impression on Doc & also they have came up with a different solution.

Now he said “ Ok don’t go for CT but bring a specialized opinion of a well know chest physician of good hospital , if he writes you fit then its 100% from my side”

My reaction was “OK” not sure how to react, but now we had to again go and search for a Chest physician.

We left his clinic and Ashish explained me how this thing is better & Doctor’s point of view and limitations before writing me FIT.

DAY 3

Next day we left college very early & started searching for a chest specialist. Searching in an unknown city is not a easy task, I miss Delhi and Metro train, btw thanx to justdial.com for helping us in this crucial time.

After searching 4-5 addresses we finally decided to go Hiranandani Hospital and took appointment for chest specialist , she was 3 hours late , we waited in anxiety when my mind was succumed to  negative thoughts , like what will happen if something goes wrong ,what if she also turn out rude,what if I loose it again, ….. I could feel the shiver through my soul. I was begging to god to set things right,hoping "NOT AGAIN"

 Dr Alpa Dalal , her very first impression was good, there was positive environment in her room. She welcomed us with smile and asked about our reason to come.

She was helpful , a very qualified and knowledgeable doctor, she read my reports and started doing her tests, placed a small instrument in my finger which kept on giving little sensation, it was looking like a small stapler on my finger but after asking got to know it was Oxygen level checking instrument :)

Then she asked why m I doing this. And after hearing my story and Godrej Loud she was impressed  :).

She not only gave her opinion in my case but also written a certificate stating “I am fit for doing my duty”.

It’s been years reading certificate like this.

Our confidence was high now and we straightway went to Dr C R Verma’s clinic.

Moment we entered his cabin he got to know from our faces and he simply welcomed us with a glittering smile.

I gave him my certificates & said nothing. He also didn’t say anything.

Only thing he did was, just opened his drawer and brought out his stamp pad & hit my document hard with a stamp in red ink.

And when I saw, it was written

“THE APPLICANT IS MEDICALLY FIT FOR CLASS II-SPL (AERONAUTICS)”
